Israel At Heart (October 3) - Three Israeli college students held a dialogue with Bi-Co students about what it's like to live in Israel at this time. They discussed their different political views and their predictions for the future while talking about what it's like to serve in the army while going to school and what it feels like to know friends who are losing family members.
Giving the Arab-Israel Conflict A Cultural Perspective: A Dialogue with Profs. Michael Sells and David Rabeeya (October 6) - Professor Michael Sells (Haverford Dept. of Religion) spoke about a cultural vision for the survival of Israel and Palestine, and Dr. David Rabeeya (Bryn Mawr Dept. of Hebrew and Judaic Studies) talked about cooperation between Jews and Arabs from the 7th century through modern times.
David Olesker: Perceptions of Israel (October 9) - Mr. Olesker is a media and counter-propaganda specialist. After showing clips from Arab media (called "Jihad For Kids," and "Arafat in His Own Words"), he spoke about the conceptual frame, how the media works to control it, and the effects on what we hear and think about Israel.
Chanan Cohen: After 2 years of Intifada- Still a Left-Wing Israel Zionist? (November 7) - Mr. Cohen spoke about his personal experiences working with the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and how he is optimistic about peace in this region. He answered the question of whether it's possible to be both left-wing politically but also a supporter of Israel with a very loud YES!
Jonathan Schanzer: A History of the Middle East Conflict (November 10) - Mr. Schanzer spoke at both Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges, giving a thorough history lesson and providing background about the land, how Israel became a state, and what the issues are that Israel presently faces.
Bi-Co students represented Haverford and Bryn Mawr at two briefings with the Israeli Consulate in Philadelphia, an American Jewish Committee reception focusing on Israel in the media, and at the David Broza concert at UPenn.

Haverford’s HIPAC to educate students about Israeli issues (October 29) "The international debate surrounding Israel and the Middle East has become an increasingly sensitive topic at undergraduate institutions across the United States.
